Summary of Log: Alexis babysits Blake... well sort of.

“Blaaaaaake… Blaaaaaakey-boy.”

The Death-Eaters taunted the student; cat-calling him from outside the cell they had confounded him to. The eldest one turned to the youngest, who hadn’t been saying anything at all and growled at him, “We’re warning you now Lind… you’re on thin ice with the dark lord already… you’d better call yourself lucky that he’s even giving you another chance, because had it been up to me…” He ran his thumb across his throat, mimicking a throat slash. “Being the step-son of Lestrange only gets you so far, got it?”

Hanging his head down in shame, Alexis nodded silently.

“Your wand Lind.”

He forked his wand over and the other Death Eater gripped him by the shoulder and forced him down on the chair placed opposite to the cell. “Now watch the half-blood… I take it you can do that without trying to kill yourself.” The Death Eaters left the room, locking the door behind him.

“Parker,” Alexis said bitterly. “Welcome.”

Having already exhausted himself from attempting to find some means of escape several times over (though to be fair, it would have been a crappy kidnapping if he had found a way out of there), Blake had taken to sitting in one of the back corners of his cell. He ignored every single word that was said to him, rejected any kind of food that was offered to him... In short, he was ignoring any kind of contact with his kidnappers. It hadn't taken him that long to figure out it was death eaters who had brought him here, what with all the mentions of the 'dark lord' and all that shit.

And if he was honest... He was fucking terrified here.

But why the hell did they have to wait until now to carry out this stupid thing? Why had they waited until his life was finally looking up a little? Couldn't they have at least kidnapped at the start of the school year or something? That time when Mags constantly rejected him, when Abby was continually arguing with him... Blake would have taken this over that any day.

And oh great, it sounded like the Blake-sitter was being swapped over yet again. He wasn't bothering to look up and see who it was this time. Probably just another dumbass who insisted on preaching how pure-bloods were so godamn awesome and so much better than halfbloods...

Though, finally hearing the new guy's voice - that, all too familiar voice - changed Blake's mind quite quickly, and he actually bothered to look over to figure out the identity of the new person. And Christ, Blake Parker was in an even fouler mood than he had been since the start of this kidnapping. This was shown instantly by his sudden behaviour change: Moving to the front of the cell and jabbing his arms threateningly at Alexis, even though he knew he had no chance of hurting him from where he was.

Caught off-guard, Alexis jumped at Blake’s sudden attack of fury, but he hardly seemed surprised. He had never really spoken to his brother’s friend before, only noting him in passing when he had chucked a plate of potatoes at Dante’s head last year. Needless to say, this was hardly the place for introductions or first impressions. “Go ahead,” he replied, his voice crisp. “But I’m afraid you’ll have to join the cue… it’s a rather long wait so I’ve heard, but if you’re willing to, then please do.”

He looked down at his hand, studying it absent-mindedly while Blake hissed at him like a wild cat. “Have you tired yourself out yet?” he asked him irritably. “So that I can perhaps talk to you like you were civilized… or at least try to…” Seriously, where did Tad pick his friends up? Tad… he had warned his brother months before about this inevitable scheme. And now that it was finally happening, he couldn’t even reveal one speck of information to the Head Boy, on account that he too was constantly baby-sat by a Death Eater or put under the Imperius curse to keep up appearances at work. For all he knew, he could’ve dined with his brother the night before and he still wouldn’t even know about it.

“You’re not the only one you know,” he said, looking up at Blake. “Who’s a prisoner here.”

Blake continued clawing at Alexis, even though it was completely pointless. No matter how long he kept at this, he wouldn't get any closer to Lind, so he was just wasting all of his energy, acting like an idiot... He really didn't care. Even if he was acting like a wild animal this seemed to have some sort of satisfying feeling to it, actually imaginging an attack on his kidnapper...

Whoa, going too far... He only bothered to stop being so stupid and calm down slightly when Alexis talked down on him, and informed him that there were actually other prisoners beside himself. "So...what?" He asked in between breaths. The whole clawing thing had actually taken a lot out of him. "You're picking out... other kids at school? You're so low in numbers that you need to rely on... children?" He took another few deep breaths. "That's fucking sick..."

He went quiet for a few moments, trying to catch his breath back as he thought over another thing he wanted answering. "And why the fuck did you pick me anyway?"

Alexis rolled his eyes, and exasperatedly brought the palm of his hand to his forehead. “No you bloody idiot, I,” he retorted, pointing to himself. “I was in the exact same situation as you the moment I graduated from Hogwarts.” He sighed, trying to think of a better way of explaining this to Blake. He loosened the knot on his tie before continuing.

“The Death Eaters felt that bringing in a younger generation of people in their group would be beneficial towards them and the dark lord,” he began. “At first, they approached the families of those who were already inclined towards You-Know-Who’s ideas and offered them a deal. In exchange for the rights of their son or daughter, the parents would receive a large sum of money to compensate and be spared from the dark lord’s wrath. That’s how they bought me from my stepfather. He felt that, since he had taken on the burden of caring for my mother and I, I should repay him for his services… like I had choice of where I was going anyway...”

His eyes darkened for a second, as he recalled that ill-fated day where he had been taken away from his home, branded forever with that treacherous dark mark on his forearm. “Of course that only gave them so much recruits and it was quite a costly method,” he continued. “And so they had Regulus Black scout out students for them, Hogwarts’ brightest and finest, although I could argue your case, conveniently planned to kidnap them, and wrote a forged letter to the headmaster saying that they had indefinitely dropped out of school.”

Blake listened to Alexis' claims, seemingly not convinced by how he was explaining that he didn't have a choice in where he was going after school. Uh, it was kinda obvious where Alexis was going to end up considering the whole Omen incident last year... He didn't have to lie about it, for Christ's sake. He still hadn't forgiven him or Delain for that. Blake wasn't entirely sure if anybody had even tried that.

The fact that Alexis had known about the death eaters plan to kidnap students out of school only annoyed him even more. "So why the fuck didn't you warn anybody about it then?" He asked, feeling slightly less crazy than before, though the anger hadn't disappeared in the slightest. "I don't even know if I'm gonna get out of this bloody place alive, what if somebody else that you love is next to come here? WHAT IF LIND?" Blake shouted, kicking the bars in front of him to release his anger "Is that when you're finally gonna get some sense into your head and tell someone about this?!"

Alexis narrowed his eyes and stared down at Blake distastefully when he kicked the iron bars furiously. Clicking his tongue, he replied coldly, “My hands are tied Parker. I may be held here against my will, but my capabilities outside this lair are just as weak. The Death Eaters keep a close eye on those they deem liable to crack and I’ve become a classic favorite ever since I tried to do this-” He rolled back the sleeve of his left arm, showing off to Blake the gnarled skin around the dark mark, wrinkled and scarred by third-degree burns. And yet, quite ironically so, the tattoo, the one he had tried to melt from his skin was still smooth and clear as day.

“Anyway,” he continued, bringing his sleeve back down. “They felt it would be better to possess me for a while, I had to keep appearances up at work after all and so I’ve been in and out of the Imperius effects for several months now. I have no control over my life or others, for that matter… and so I bite my tongue in order to protect what’s left of my family – my mother, sister and brother… all who are equally helpless targets. What would you have done? Save the others or protect your loved ones? Perhaps I took the selfish way out… I still believe my cause was just.”

He sighed then, having conveniently saved the best for last. “I did tell one person,” he continued. “Like I mentioned before, I chose to protect my loved ones… so I told Tad, the Head Boy? I’m sure you two are quite acquainted with one another. He was warned, although I’m assuming he decided to keep the matter personal in order to protect my safety. I haven’t spoken to him since… or maybe I have… I wouldn’t be able to tell you, I…” He paused for a second. “I’m not really sure what I’m doing these days…”

Blake scoffed at Alexis' explanation for why he hadn't already attempted to warn anybody about the upcoming kidnappings. "I don't want to hear your excuses." He snapped back, seemingly trying to ignore Alexis and any other attempts of convicing him that he wanted to let people know about the plots of Voldemort. Though, his attention was brought back to the former Slytherin when he revealed the dark mark burned into his skin. It was the first time that Blake had come face to face with another person bearing that mark - In all truth he hadn't really planned to come into contact with that tattoo at any point in his life. It did worry him a little, thinking about the fact that he could potentially have that mark etched upon his own skin at some point in the near future...

The thoughts of being branded with the dark mark himself had driven him insane in his head, and Blake was only brought back to reality when Tad was brought up, missing half of the entire conversation. "What, Tad knew?" He asked, anger being replaced with hurt. Tad knew and he hadn't warned anybody about it? What the hell was he thinking?! He was protecting Alexis and now a bunch of kids were about to get kidnapped from school... and nobody would even have any idea. But surely a bunch of kids dropping out of school would become a little suspicious right? One person dropping out wasn't going to look wrong at all. Everybody had probably already accepted that fact and began to get on with their school lives again.

He didn't really have any desire to talk to Alexis any longer, so Blake slid down the bars to sit on the floor with his back to him. Had his friends accepted that he'd just dropped out? What would his parents say when they found out he'd dropped out and had gone missing? What would Mags think...? He'd said he wanted to show his girlfriend what love could be like, but being trapped in this hellhole wasn't exactly being a good boyfriend, was it? The only thing he could really hope for now was that his friends had some kind of sense to figure out that he hadn't dropped out of school... but he really had no idea what they were going to do when they finally realised that. All he could do now, was wait.

Alexis felt somewhat responsible when a look of defeat finally became evident in Blake’s features. “Hey, hey… come on now, Tad’s an intelligent young man,” he said, feeling bad now that he had broken the boy’s spirits. “I’m sure he’s finding some way around this in order to find you. I’d help too if they weren’t controlling my every move outside this place.” He paused for a second. “Tell you what, if ever I’m able to, I’ll send word to Tad about you… before it’s too late.”

His hand edged down towards Blake in an attempt to pat him on the shoulder, but several voices from outside caused him to jump back. The door suddenly burst open again, and the eldest Death Eater was still there, this time accompanied by a tall, dark-haired man with a lethal stare that caused Alexis to shrink back. “Hello father,” he said politely, but as Rabastan reached him, he delivered to his stepson a slap across the face.

“Alexis, Cornwall here tells me that you’ve been more and more disengaged in any orders he gives you,” Rabastan growled, gripping the boy by the scruff of his hair, forcing him to look up. “What do you have to say for yourself this time hmm? Enlighten me, you were always so talented in talking yourself out of sticky situations…”

Alexis, cringing from the pain searing through his head, replied, “Because his orders are ridiculous… you can’t steal children and expect them to obey… besides, you honestly think Dumbledore won’t notice that several of his students have been plucked from his houses?”

Rabastan sneered. “Well let’s see if you’re right Alexis,” he said, turning to face Blake as he kicked the bars. “Oi, Parker… is my son right? Are you untouchable?”
Nov. 7th, 2008 06:16 pm (UTC)
As much as Blake would have liked to believe what Alexis was telling him, he found the claim to be a bit too good to be true. "That seems unlikely to ever happen." He couldn't really force himself to believe that. Surely if Alexis felt so strongly against this, he would have warned Tad in a lot more detail the first time and made him swear to tell Dumbledore or something... He didn't believe for one second that Alexis would send word to Tad. Besides, he'd hidden behind the face of Omen with Delain for almost a year. What was to say he wasn't lieing again, here?

The sudden add of more voices into the mix scared Blake a little, but he didn't really want to make that obvious to them. He had no chance of defending himself against all of the death eaters in this place... especially now he was disarmed and everything. And there wasn't muche he could do from inside a cell anyway. It was best just to ignore them until he was left alone, anyway.

Of course, them leaving him alone was incredibly unlikely to happen. But still, he wasn't going to act like a frightened little kid or something. That was just stupid. "Try me." He snapped back, not bothering to turn to face the new death eater.

With raised eyebrows, Rabastan stared at the back of Blake’s head with a cruel smile widening on his face. Alexis stared down at the stone floor, knowing all too well what sort of punishment was in store for insolence. He had, on numerous occasions, suffered such a fate. His stepfather had begun to use Unforgivables on him since he was twelve, all though the frequency and pain intensified every time he got older. Now, Rabastan used the Cruciatus on him regularly.

“Very well,” he said, throwing his stepson back into the chair. “Here son, I’ll use one that you should be familiar with by now… one that you should begin practicing yourself. Why, you could try it on Parker here, since he seems to be as stubborn as a mule. But it’s only a question of time before you break an animal… you’ll come to know that humans are the exact same way. Said to be more intelligent, but I beg to differ.”

Alexis squirmed in his seat, although he knew that if his stepfather caught him with his eyes closed, he would suffer the same punishment as Blake. Instead, he watched him helplessly and waited for the screams… waited for the pain to begin…

Nov. 7th, 2008 07:39 pm (UTC)
Blake listened to Rabastan's words with little interest, his mind elsewhere. It would have probably been a better plan to pay some attention considering these were death eaters he was dealing with, but his mind was still on his thoughts from before. His friends, his family, his girlfriend... They'd all feel let down by what they believed he had done.

He heard that one word, and Blake had little time to react. There was nothing he could have done to avoid it anyway, and before he knew it, he was screaming. He couldn't stop himself. He'd never felt anything like this before, this pain was unbearable. There wasn't anything in the world that he could imagine that could be worse than this excruciating pain... He just wanted it to end...
Nov. 7th, 2008 07:56 pm (UTC)
Instinctively, Alexis cringed when he heard the screams echo across the room, echoing in every expanse of his head… he tried to block it out, but he couldn’t. Blake’s body squirmed and withered on the cold floor, and it was evident that some invisible force was inflicting an indescribable amount of pain upon the student. He thought his stepfather would only use the curse momentarily, but the pleasure in his eyes showed no intentions of stopping any time soon.

“Father… stop it… please…” Alexis began, but Rabastan didn’t listen to him. His hands gripped the side of the chair so tightly that his knuckles turned white. Gritting his teeth together, he tried to get a hold of himself, but Blake’s outcries were too much for him… grinding him down so much that it felt like he was the one being cursed…

Alexis tackled the man to the ground, severing the line of the spell. He tried to make a grab for his stepfather’s wand, which had bounced couple of feet to the left, but Rabastan’s hands found their way around Alexis’ neck and his thumbs pressed down on hard, cutting his breathing circulation.

“See Cornwall?” the man said to the other Death Eater, who had barely moved since the commotion had erupted between the two. “A little force with this one, and you’ll get your way with him. They tend to pick up bad habits at school, but those can easily be corrected.”

Just as Blake felt he couldn't take any more, just when the thoughts of finding other means of escaping the pain entered his mind, the pain finally ended. Then suddenly the air around him changed - What he'd felt merely seconds ago became eerily cold, and while he had the chance he took several deep breaths in panic.

His body was still numb from the pain as he forced himself to roll over and find out the reason behind why the pain had ended so suddenly. The scene in front of him definitely came as a surprise - Weren't death eaters supposed to work together, not attempt to kill one another?! And that was Alexis on the floor! "Get... get off him..." Blake forced out with all his might, although with the current amount of energy that he had, it only came out as a whisper.

What else could he do? He had no chance of reaching them while he was trapped in this cell... And despite the fact that he hated Alexis with a passion he wasn't just going to watch him suffocate. "Please..." He tried again, somehow finding more energy and becoming a little louder. "I-I'll join you I swear... Just don't kill him..." That was the only way out he could think of. The only hope of saving Alexis was the one thing that he didn't want to do.
Nov. 9th, 2008 05:38 pm (UTC)
Rabastan released his grip on his stepson’s neck when he heard Blake pledge his allegiance to the Death Eaters. He moved away from Alexis, who at this point was gasping for air to fill his constricted lungs. The young man couldn’t move, couldn’t speak; the only thing he could concentrate on now was how he didn’t want to die here today. He also wanted to warn Blake about the deal he had just made, one that might as well have been struck with the devil… and yet, it was due to this promise that he was still alive. He knew what his stepfather was capable of, and it had looked as though he hadn’t been planning on letting him walk out of this room alive.

Rabastan grabbed his wand and pocketed it, turning to face the jailed boy now. “Very well Parker, very well,” he smirked coldly. “But you’ll need to prove your loyalty to us… words are merely a gateway to the group. If you’re serious, which I’m sure you are, you can help with the next kidnapping… you can get us Abigail Jay. If not…”

He pulled from his pocket a small picture, showing it off to Blake. It was a photograph of Mags, walking to class, unconsciously aware of any nearby camera. “It’s quite easy to kill someone too… we have ways of making it look like it was an accident that your little girlfriend fell from her broomstick five hundred feet in the air and tragically plummeted to her death…”

“So will you get us Abigail Jay?”
Nov. 9th, 2008 05:59 pm (UTC)
Blake had managed to get to his feet in the time it took Rabastan to release Alexis and was barely managing to hold himself up by holding onto the bars. Hearing exactly what his first mission was though, near knocked him off his feet. He couldn't bring Abby here, no way... There was nothing that would convince him to. Even if he was near-hating her right now, he had loved her at one point, and there was nothing that would make him put her in a dangerous situation like this...

Nothing, except the threat of his current girlfriend being killed. His gaze was cast to the ground as he tried to figure out the situation. Blake couldn't believe he was being faced with this decision... His grip on the bars of the cell became a lot tighter - An attempt to release his anger, but at the same time conceal what he was currently feeling. How the hell was he supposed to say no to that? By kidnapping Abby, he was saving his girlfriend, but at the same time hurting both his best friend, and ex-girlfriend...

After a few moments of silence, a small smirk appeared on his face as he attempted to appear confident to the death eaters. Of course, inside his heart was being pulled at from so many different angles. Blake knew that when this was over, he would definitely be feeling guilty about it all... and the only thing that he believed could justify what was about to happen, was the fact that he was keeping his girlfriend alive.

"Abigail Jay? Easy... You can count me in."
Nov. 9th, 2008 06:37 pm (UTC)
Rabastan’s smirk mirrored Blake’s in a sadistically cruel way. “Excellent, I’ll prep you myself on how the procedure will go underway,” he said, turning then to address the other Death Eater. “Cornwall, take Lind here away and… have your way with him. I’m ashamed to admit that a half-blood is more inclined to our way of thinking than my own stepson. The Cruciatus on/off for twenty minutes should do the trick.”

The other Death Eater, Cornwall, nodded and shuffled in to pry a whimpering Alexis from the ground. The youngest Death Eater turned to face Blake one last time as he was dragged from the room, his lips mouthing the words ‘Thank you’, but his blue eyes showing the signs of utmost regret for what he knew was in store for poor Blake.
